Title: Mirage
Rating: PG
Summary: What is safety, anyway?
Warnings: none.
Notes: none
She thinks, now, that the house was always calling her. Even before, when things were good-- she would dream sometimes of walking barefoot in the woods, a golden glow on the horizon. And after, when it was awful, the house drew her in, from the wild cold world into the warm and familiar.
Or is it the other way around?
She flattens her palm against the window, watching the boy walking outside. The boy she could trust, if she let herself. The boy she could love? The boy the house hates. Does it even love her?
She doesn't know anymore.
